Shrimp with Sweet Spicy Sauce

It’s a long day at work and I needed something quick and delicious. I’m sure you can relate. The other day I made my homemade Sweet and Spicy Chili Sauce aka chili oil which goes so well with this dish. The shrimps are marinated in chili sauce, cooked to perfection, and served in a bowl of rice with chopped-up tomatoes and cucumber on the side.

You can use any kind of protein you like for this dish. As far as seafood, it works well with baked salmon, fried white fish, or red snaper. The Sweet and Spicy Chili Sauce also goes well if you’re making “escabeche”. It’s a Filipino dish, usually made with fried tilapia or snaper. However, if you’re not a big fan of fish or any seafood, you can use chicken, beef, or pork, they’re equally delicious. The meat takes longer time to cook but you can certainly pick whatever meat you like.

Can I use the Chili Sauce for my favorite veggies?

Absolutely! You can make any veggie stir-fry or you can steam the veggies and add the sauce. It’s also great for vegetarian dumplings, eggrolls, and any rosted veggies. Veggie noodle stir-fry is another choice to make with this sauce. It’s versatile and delicious with most of the dishes I make. Hi there! Nice to meet you. My name is Jen.

I’m a mom of 2 wonderful girls. I love to prepare and cook home-cooked meals. Cooking and planning your meals might sound like another chore added to your already long list of things to do. Believe me, I’ve been there. However, cooking more meals at home is worth all the effort.  After years of cooking for my family and teaching culinary classes, I can honestly say that I have more control over the quality of the ingredients I use. That means I’m eating a lot better. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring and you don’t have to eat the same thing repeatedly. There are ways we can do to naturally enhance the flavor of our food and enjoy home-cooked meals.
