Easy Baked BBQ Pork Chops
Easy Baked BBQ Pork Chops are boneless pork chops smothered in your favorite bbq sauce. Juicy, tender, and flavorful. The rub is a combination of dried herbs and spices which is equally delicious.
Why Does Pork Go so well with BBQ Sauce
This Easy Baked BBQ Pork Chops recipe uses ingredients that most likely you already have in your pantry. Don’t feel pressured to buy expensive BBQ sauce, you can make your own if you like. Nonetheless, for convenience get your favorite BBQ sauce, like hickory, sweet, spicy, etc.
Pork chops and BBQ sauce go so well together because the natural sweetness of the sauce complements the savory flavor of the pork chops. Additionally, it helps add moisture to the pork chops, keeping them incredibly tender and juicy. Plus, the slight tanginess of the BBQ sauce helps to cut through the richness of the pork chops. All in all, these two are an ideal flavor combination.
In this recipe, I used boneless pork chops. Since they’re boneless cut, it’s quicker to cook and that means dinner will be done in no time. If you’re looking to cook bone-in pork chops and would like more information about their differences when it comes to cooking times and cooking methods, here’s a more detailed explanation of the Difference Between Bone-In and Boneless Pork Chops.

ingredients and substitutions
THE RUB:
- Italian Seasoning – If don’t have this seasoning but you have most of the dried herbs and spices, then you can blend your Italian seasoning. Combine, dried basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, and marjoram (one teaspoon each).
- Smoked paprika – adds bright color and a smoky flavor
- Garlic powder – has a nice aroma and enriches the flavor
- Sea salt – is not as salty as table salt, add more if desired
- Red chili pepper flakes – if you want less heat, use ground black pepper
BAKED BBQ PORK CHOPS:
- Boneless pork chops – Obviously, boneless meat has less fat and is quicker to cook. Keep an eye out when baking because they tend to dry out fast. You can also use pork loin for this recipe and cut them about an inch or 2 in thickness. The thinner the cut the faster they cook.
- Olive oil – keeps the meat moist and helps them brown
- BBQ sauce – Use your favorite flavor and brand.
NOTE: Please see the recipe card for the exact measurements
SUBSTITUTIONS:
- Chicken breast – for boneless pork.
- Teriyaki sauce – for BBQ sauce. Here’s the recipe for Skillet Teriyaki Chicken Thighs
- Use different herbs and spices for the rub. You can combine chili powder, cumin, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika, for more of a Southern flavor.
- Salmon is also a great alternative to meat
- For a vegetarian dish – you can roast potatoes, mushrooms, carrots, celery, onion, bell pepper, etc., and use the same spices and BBQ sauce. The roasting time may vary.

prep AND BAKE the bbq pork chops:
- Preheat the oven to 375ºF. Cut the pork chops to desired thickness. For this recipe, I cut them about an inch thick. Place them on a baking dish pan.
- Combine all the dried herbs and spices. Drizzle oil and massage the pork chops with the dry rub, making sure both sides are seasoned well.
- Cover with foil and bake for 15-20 minutes depending on the thickness of the pork chops or until the internal temperature reaches 145ºF.
- Remove the foil, brush with 1/2 of the BBQ sauce, and broil for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- When done broiling, brush with the rest of the BBQ sauce, cover with clean foil, and rest for 5 minutes before serving (to keep the chops moist and juicy).
- Baste the pork chops with the juices or sauce from the pan.
