Spring Gardening

My husband and I have been planning to have a vegetable garden for years, just didn’t get a chance to make it happen until this year. Finally, our dream came true! I love to eat well with foods that support what the body needs. My husband said “honey, why don’t you complete your mission and plant some veggies”. Well, that’s what I worked on this past couple of days. Even though I read books on “how to” start your vegetable garden I still feel that there’s nothing wonderful than following your heart. Nowadays, we are bombarded with information but dreams only come true when you ACT. An action is a magic formula to anything. We can read thousands of books on “how to” but if we don’t do it, it’ll just remain written in the book.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m not giving you instructions on “how to” but I’m giving you encouragement to follow your heart and love what you do. Of course, when gardening you have to get your hands dirty, you have to start digging the dirt and cultivating the soil for the plant to grow at it’s best. Just like anything else, nurturing what you love and the hard work is well worth it. It’s very rewarding to accomplish something you’ve been meaning to do for a while, and gradually seeing your hard work blooming!

When planting in Illinois (or any four season area), it’s very important to know the before and after frost.
