HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE BREAKFAST BURRITOS

.

1. BLEND ALL SPICES: In a small bowl, combine chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, onion powder, smoked paprika, dried oregano, red chili pepper flakes, and salt. Set it aside.

2. PREP THE VEGGIES: Start chopping the onion and bell pepper.

3. COOK SCRAMBLED EGGS: Beat the eggs, and heat the pan with oil. Add the eggs and cook until firm or scrambled. Set it aside.

4. SAUTE AND FINISH COOKING THE FILLING: In another pan, saute the onion and bell pepper until tender. Then add the spices, stir to combine, and cook until aromatic. Add the cooked chicken, and stir until well heated. Set aside to cool.

5. WRAP AND FRY THE BURRITOS: Fill a flour tortilla with the chicken mixture, scrambled eggs, and cheese. Fold by rolling from the top and folding the sides inward. Continue folding until reaching the end. Do the same with the rest of the filling and tortillas. Heat a pan with oil, and cook the burritos in batches. Place them seam side down to avoid opening while they cook. Turn the tortillas on all sides until golden brown. Enjoy them with a dollop of sour cream and a squeeze of some lime juice. You can also have some salsa or guacamole on the side.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

.

1. How do I store them? First, allow them to cool completely. Wrap each burrito individually in aluminum foil or plastic wrap to ensure they stay fresh. Place the wrapped burritos in an airtight container or a large resealable plastic bag. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, consider freezing them. When freezing, it’s best to use heavy-duty foil or freezer-safe plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn. Label each burrito with the date or preparation for easy reference.

2. Reheating? To reheat refrigerated burritos, you can use either a microwave or an oven. For the microwave, unwrap the burrito and place it on a microwave-safe plate. Heat on high for 1-2 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even heating. If using an oven, preheat it to 350ºF (175ºF). Keep the burrito wrapped in foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until heated through. For frozen burritos, allow them to thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating using the same methods.

3. The best side dishes? Breakfast burritos pair wonderfully with a variety of side dishes that complement their savory flavors. Fresh fruit salad provides a refreshing contrast, balancing the richness of the burritos. A side of guacamole or avocado slices adds creaminess and a healthy dose of fats. For a bit of spice, consider serving with salsa or hot sauce. If you’re looking for something warm, roasted potatoes or hash browns are excellent choices. A simple green salad with a light vinaigrette can add a crisp, fresh element to your meal.
