Fresh from my garden
Gardening is my favorite thing to do. I love growing tomatoes and herbs. I can smell the wonderful aroma of my basil, oregano, rosemary, and sage every time I sit on my back porch. I also planted thyme, but my dog accidentally stepped on it. I’m thinking, that next year I’ll expand my gardening area to start planting root vegetables. For now, I’m satisfied with what I have.
ingredients
- Tomatoes – get the sweet tomatoes. I used the sweet cherry tomatoes from my garden
- Basil – is the perfect garnish for a dish
- Mozzarella – is mild and will not overpower the flavor of your Caprese Salad
- DRESSING – Balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, and ground pepper. Simple but delicious.

FACT:
- Caprese salad is one form of a Caprese dish. You can make Caprese pizza, sandwiches, or even pasta. It’s an Italian dish named after the island of Capri where it is believed to have originated. It has fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. You can expand your culinary adventure and add more ingredients like red onion, olives, garlic, and even pesto. Instead of Balsamic dressing, you can also use Italian dressing.

Hi there! Nice to meet you. My name is Jen.
I’m a mom of 2 wonderful girls. I love to prepare and cook home-cooked meals. Planning your meals might sound like another chore added to your already long list of things to do. Believe me, I’ve been there. Despite our busy schedule, cooking more meals at home is worth all the effort. After years of cooking for my family and teaching culinary classes, I can honestly say that I have more control over the quality of the ingredients I use. That means I’m eating a lot better. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring and you don’t have to eat the same thing repeatedly. There are ways we can do and naturally enhance the flavor of our food and enjoy home-cooked meals.
