Orange Fried Tofu

Fried tofu in a sweet and tangy sauce with broccoli and bell pepper.

Equipment

  • Nonstick skillet
  • Tongs
  • Spatula

Ingredients
  

FRIED TOFU

  • 14 oz. firm tofu, slice into 1/2 an inch thick
  • oil for frying

FOR THE ORANGE SAUCE

  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • 1 inch size ginger, grated
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup orange juice, or juice of one orange

FOR SAUTEEING

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 cups broccoli, cut into florest
  • 1 bell pepper, deseed and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions
 

FRIED TOFU

  • Drain the tofu and pat dry with a paper towel.
  • Heat a nonstick skillet with oil. Add the tofu, and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Be careful with oil splatter when flipping the tofu. Set them aside.

FOR THE ORANGE SAUCE

  • In a bowl add all the sauce ingredients. Stir until the cornstarch dissolved. Set it aside.

FOR SAUTEEING

  • Heat a pan with oil. Add the broccoli and bell pepper, and cook the broccoli and bell pepper for 2-4 minutes or until tender.
  • Stir the sauce again to make sure all ingredients are well combined. Add the tofu and the sauce to the pan, and stir to combine. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve over steamed rice.
