Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Mixing bowl
  • Skillet
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh lobster meat
  • 4 top-split hot dog rolls
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped chives
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lettuce leaves, optional, for serving

Instructions

  • PREPARE THE LOBSTER: Begin by cooking the lobster. If using live lobsters, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lobsters for about 8–10 minutes. Once cooked, remove the lobster meat from the shells and chop it into bite-sized pieces.
  • MIX THE FILLING: In a mixing bowl, combine the lobster meat with mayonnaise, lemon juice, celery, chives, salt, and pepper. Stir gently to ensure the lobster is well coated without breaking up the chunks. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • TOAST THE ROLLS: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Once melted, place the rolls in the skillet, cut side down. Toast until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes.
  • ASSEMBLE THE ROLLS: Line each toasted roll with a lettuce leaf if using, and then generously fill with the lobster mixture. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

FOR A RICHER FLAVOR:
  • Try adding a teaspoon of melted butter to the lobster mixture.
TO SAVE TIME:
  • Purchase pre-cooked lobster meat from your local seafood market.
FOR PRESENTATION:
  • Garnish with extra chives or a lemon wedge for a pop of color.
