Filipino dish made with ground beef, potatoes, carrot, tomato paste, or tomato sauce. Flavored with soy sauce and fish sauce with a hint of brown sugar.

- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large yellow or Yukon potato peeled, cube into bite-sized pieces
- 1 medium carrot, peeled, cubed into bite-sized pieces
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 pound lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 cup green peas
- 1/2 cup raisins
Heat a skillet with oil, add the potato and carrot, cook until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set them aside.
Use the same skillet, add onion and garlic, saute until aromatic. Season with salt and pepper, stir to combine.
Add the ground beef, cook until no longer pink. Add the soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and tomato paste, stir to combine. Simmer for 2 minutes, then add the potato and carrot back to the pan.
Add the green peas and raisins, stir to combine. Remove from the skillet and serve with steamed rice.
